National Register Update

Vol. 1, No. 3 - Spring 2001

Betsy Friedberg, National Register Director of the Massachusetts Historical Commission, acknowledged receipt of the nomination papers for the Robert Goddard Birthplace, One Tallawanda Drive. Once the Commission prepares and edits the submission, it will then be sent to the State Review Board of the Massachusetts Historical Commission. A consultant will need to visit the property and view the interior in order to complete the nomination. Ms. Friedberg estimates that the entire process will take at least one year before the Massachusetts Commission submits it to Washington for final approval and placement on the National Register. She attributes the length of time to an increased interest in the program across the state. Our thanks to Paula Buonomo of Congressman James McGovern's office for coordinating the process.
